Christmas vegetables

I missed the deadline for Matron's Christmas Vegetables post, but I hate to let these photos go to waste.

The lettuce is growing in my greenhouse, but everything else is in beds outdoors. The kale, upper right, needs bird netting to keep the deer from eating it all. Smart deer. Now that we've had several hard frosts, the kale is so sweet you could almost make a dessert out of it.

You mentioned the deer. I love them, but I have found that they believe in division of labor related to the shrubs and the veggies in my yard. I truly think they believe my job is to plant it and their job is to eat it. I would love to hear someone in the Seattle area talk about how they deal with that.
