Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day

Quickly now, before it becomes Bloomsday (which I guess it already is for everyone east of the Pacific time zone) instead of garden bloggers' bloom day, here is a compendium of what's in bloom on Tiger Mountain today.

First, the report.
In the vegetable garden: peas, potatoes, squash, topsetting onion, and tomatoes
In the herb beds: thyme, sage, lavender
In the woods: foxglove, himalayan blackberry, alpine strawberries
In the bog: water hemlock
In the borders: clematis, campanula, hardy geranium, oriental poppy, viola, deutzia glauca, tradescantia, astilbe, and roses! (Souvenir de la Malmaison, Rose de Rescht, Madame Hardy, Just Joey, Kathleen, Wine and Roses, Joseph's Coat, Cecille Brunner)

On to the pictures! I arrived home late from work this evening, and by the time we'd had dinner, it was getting on towards twilight. Shooting in low light without a flash gave me some interesting effects, in some cases almost like a watercolor.

Rose 'Kathleen', an old musk shrub rose

'Just Joey', hybrid tea

'Wine and Roses', another very old shrub rose

'Madame Hardy' damask

Oriental poppy

geranium

foxglove

tradescantia, in the shadow of a variegated cornus alba

astilbe, also in the shadow of cornus alba

giant lupines

Made it, with 1 minute to spare!

You made it with plenty of time to spare, my rules on what is the "15th" are a bit lax. But, I love seeing the flowers in the fading light, it gives them a little mysteriousness. They all like great. Thanks for participating in Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day!

Molly, Thank you for commenting on my Blogger Bloom Day post. I don't think I've had the pleasure of visiting your site before. Your hybrid rose is beautiful and I love the pics if your chicks and ducklings.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Your 'Kathleen' and 'Madam Hardy' roses are especially beautiful! Isn't Tiger Mountain on Hwy 126 to Maple Valley? We go that route to visit our daughter and family.

Hi - great photos! I love the Just Joey and Madame Hardy. I almost bought Mdme Hardy last year, but decided to pass - now I'm kind of kicking myself!! Very pretty bloom.

The roses look stunning in the dim light... as do the other blooms. I wish I could grow foxgloves. I'll just have to come here and get my fill ... please post more of them, if you have a minute!!

There is a lot going on in your garden. I love the giant lupine. We have lupine here but they are the small native kind. The rest don't do so well.

I just adore reading your blog and should post more comments than I do for which I apologise - I just get so busy
